Corporate Service Back To Main

For over a decade, L.A. Works has encouraged corporate citizenship by building a bridge between our corporate partners and the communities of Los Angeles. Our corporate service program, BusinessWorks, is now L.A.’s leader in corporate community service and volunteering, setting a new trend in corporate philanthropy that is focused on action, innovation and impact.

Our corporate partners:

  • Share our vision to transform communities through service and civic engagement;
  • Value the power and potential of hands-on, high-impact volunteerism;
  • Understand how to maximize the impact of their charitable giving;
  • Recognize that employee service opportunities promote team-building, boost morale, and cultivate leadership;
  • Understand the value of corporate citizenship as a strategy for recruitment and retention

BusinessWorks
paintersBusinessWorks is a fee-for-service program for large and small companies that wish to make a contribution to strengthening their communities by engaging employee teams in hands-on-service projects. These projects create team-building opportunities and reinforce the importance of corporate citizenship. They are also a proven way to maximize the strategic community impact of a corporation's charitable dollars by adding volunteer labor to in-kind goods & resources.

Our staff has extensive experience in custom designing a Day of Community Service that fits the needs of our corporate and community partners, from serving the homeless, painting murals, planting a community garden and reading to inner-city children to large-scale makeovers of entire schools or community centers. From start to finish, we provide every aspect of the volunteer project development and management, this includes site selection and project design, expert supervision, and supply procurement. These projects can range in scale from 50 to 5000 volunteers and fees are adjusted according to project size and type. As a nonprofit social enterprise, the fees from our corporate partners are used towards the costs of planning and managing the day as well as help support our ongoing volunteer programming that is available for free to the community and our nonprofit partners.

Annual Days of Service
Throughout the year L.A. Works celebrates the spirit of service by bringing together volunteers, nonprofit partners and corporate volunteer teams in a Day of Service to the city of Los Angeles. These events include:

  • L.A. Works Day takes place during the summer and is Los Angeles' longest-running annual day of community service. Volunteers from all parts of the city, civic organizations and leading companies join together to create murals, paint, plant and landscape to revitalize schools, parks and community centers.

  • MLK Jr. Day of Service is a powerful day of activism and reflection. Our volunteers mark this day with meaningful service, learning and remembrance.

Sponsorship benefits include recognition in event advertising, L.A. Works' newsletter and website, participation in day-of ceremonies and much more. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities and benefits contact Reena De Asis, Director of Marketing and Corporate Relations at (323) 224-6510 or via email at reena@laworks.com.

MLK Day 2010
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver joined nearly 400 L.A. Works community and corporate volunteers in service to honor the spirit and legacy of Dr. King by transforming and revitalizing the grounds of Van Nuys Middle School. On January 18th, the pouring rain didn’t put a damper on the MLK Day celebration as volunteers painted and helped out in the library, and children marched for freedom.

L.A. Works was thrilled to have State Senator Carol Liu, State Assemblymember Mike Feuer, and Rafael Gonzalez, Associate Director, Office of Neighborhood and Community Services, City of Los Angeles Mayor's office help kick-off the event in the welcoming rally. Corporate supporters for the day included Accenture, Kaiser Permanente, Northrop Grumman, Home Depot, and Howling Monk Coffee. L.A. Works' community partners, Van Nuys Middle School and Public Allies, also helped make the day a huge success.

Strategic Partnerships
L.A. Works is interested in identifying creative ways to engage the corporate sector through mutually beneficial partnerships. From consulting on CSR growth trends in the area of corporate service to becoming the charitable beneficiary for events, new product launches, and movie releases, we have experience and interest in a wide array of partnerships. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Deborah Brutchey, Senior Director of Development and Operations at (323) 224-6510 or via email at debbie@laworks.com to connect about strategic partnership opportunities.
