November Spotlight: Promoting Volunteerism in Immigrant Communities L.A. Works is at the forefront of efforts to promote volunteerism in communities with large immigrant populations. In a recent initiative focused on the community of Pacoima in the northeast San Fernando Valley, L.A. L.A. Works partners with Univision for Neighborhood Service Contest Working together to encourage neighborhood volunteerism in Spanish-speaking communities, Univision 34 recently made a call out to its morning program Primera Edicion audience for community service project ideas. L.A. Works will be collaborating with the individuals who submitted project ideas to coordinate and execute their service project ideas. The planning and training process will be followed by Univision cameras and featured on-air leading up to the neighborhood projects.
Hello Kitty Partners with L.A. Works for Special Exhibit and Workshops L.A. Works is the sole charitable partner for Hello Kitty's Three Apples, an exhibition and celebration taking place October 23 — November 15 in honor of SANRIO's Hello Kitty's 35th Anniversary. During this celebration, SANRIO and L.A. Works will collaborate on a number of events to teach art appreciation to children and teens from some of the 250+ community agencies that partner with L.A. Works.

In 2010, Disney wants to inspire one million people to volunteer a day of service to a participating organization in their communities and celebrate their good works by giving each of them one day admission to a theme park at Disneyland® Resort or Walt Disney World® Resort, free. Starting January 1, 2010, volunteers will be able to go to www.disneyparks.com to search for volunteer opportunities made available through L.A.
